Penrith Methodist Circuit

What is Circuit?

We are an international organisation and inevitably our structure is complex and is described by some technical terms which can be confusing.

·        The Church as a whole is described as The Connexion

·        The UK part of The Connexion consists of 31 Districts

·        Each District is made up of a number of Circuits

·        Each Circuit is made up of a number of local churches

We are part of the Penrith Circuit which also includes Patterdale, The Cottage Wood Centre (between Plumpton and Calthwaite), Shap, Skelton, Sleagill & Stainton.  The Penrith Circuit is one of 12 Circuits which make up the Cumbria District.

Every Circuit has a Superintendent Minister who carries overall responsibility for the life and mission of all the churches in the circuit.  In our Circuit we have a second minister who shares the work.  David, as superintendent and our second minister have chosen to share equally the work in all the churches and work closely together with rest of the ministry team, Paul our Children’s and Youth Work Team Leader and  our Café Worker.  This work is underpinned by an army of volunteers without whom much of what we do would be impossible.
